Today (12 July 2026), the Prevention Department of the Skopje Regional Police, in cooperation with the Directorate for Protection and Rescue and National Forests, carried out a preventive educational campaign within the jurisdiction of the Chair Police Station under the slogan "Let's Protect Our Forests from Wildfires and Open-Space Fires", aimed at raising public awareness about fire prevention and responsible behaviour.
Citizens were reminded of the importance of reporting irresponsible behaviour, particularly lighting fires in open areas, discarding cigarette butts, and engaging in other activities that may cause fires, taking into account the increased fire risk during the summer season. Educational leaflets containing fire prevention messages were distributed to randomly selected drivers and local residents to help raise public awareness and promote responsible conduct.
Police officers from the Kočani Police Station and the Sveti Nikole Police Station also carried out preventive activities aimed at preventing open-space fires at the Ponikva recreational centre, in cooperation with the Kočani Volunteer Firefighting Association, the Territorial Firefighting Unit, and the Public Enterprise National Forests – Sveti Nikole.
