Tools for dealing with foreign interference and information manipulation

The Institute for Communication Studies (ICS) is implementing the project "Monitoring, Detection, and Exposure of Hidden Foreign Interference and Information Manipulation," which involves representatives from institutions in the inter-institutional coordinating group of the project. The group consists of representatives from 10 institutions and represents an attempt to establish an informal mechanism for coordination and cooperation on issues related to foreign interference and information manipulation (FIIM).

Foreign interference and information manipulation (FIIM) is a new hybrid threat to the political systems in liberal democratic environments. Through the use of legal tools, foreign actors employing FIIM attempt to undermine trust in institutions and manipulate public opinion in order to achieve change in the domestic political landscape.

This resource center is designed to assist researchers, decision-makers, public officials, and citizens in understanding the challenges posed by FIIM, making it easier to recognize potential attacks, as well as providing a foundation for further analysis.
