Yesterday (18 July 2026), police officers from the Resen Police Department carried out a preventive and educational campaign promoting road safety, with a particular focus on raising drivers' awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Alcohol significantly impairs driving skills, reduces psychomotor abilities and poses a serious threat to both drivers and other road users.
Police officers also conducted fire prevention activities in Resen and the surrounding settlements, informing citizens about the dangers of careless disposal and burning of waste, burning stubble, discarding cigarette butts and other flammable materials in open areas and near forested zones, in order to reduce the risk of wildfires.
The aim of the activities was to enhance public safety awareness, strengthen trust and cooperation between the police and the community, and encourage citizens to promptly report any irresponsible behaviour. Printed educational materials were distributed during the campaign.
Meanwhile, police officers from the Berovo Police Department, in cooperation with the Berovo Centre for Social Work, carried out the preventive campaign "Neighbourhood Patrols – Together for a Safer Community" on 18 July 2026 in the Municipality of Berovo.
The campaign was conducted at several locations across the municipality where young people commonly gather during the evening hours, including parks, sports grounds and hospitality venues.
Police officers held direct conversations with young people and local residents, emphasizing the importance of respecting the law, behaving responsibly in public places, preserving public order and peace, and protecting public property and urban infrastructure.
Particular emphasis was placed on the prevention of peer violence, the abuse of alcohol and psychoactive substances, and raising awareness of other forms of risky behaviour.
