esterday and over the past several days, police officers from Bitola, Kumanovo, Skopje, the Southern and Northern Regional Centres for Border Affairs, Štip, Kavadarci and Negotino carried out multiple preventive activities aimed at improving road safety, preventing outdoor fires, protecting forests from illegal logging, and preventing theft.
In the Bitola area, road safety activities covered several municipalities and focused on campaigns such as “Don’t Use a Mobile Phone While Driving,” “Wear a Helmet,” “Wear a Seat Belt,” “Alcohol Is Your Enemy” and “Ride Safely.” Citizens were also informed about the importance of reporting irresponsible behaviour, illegal dumping and the burning of waste or fires in open areas, particularly near forests.
In Kumanovo, the Prevention Unit, in cooperation with the Municipal Prevention Council, conducted the “Stop, I Am a Pedestrian” campaign, reminding pedestrians to use marked pedestrian crossings and not to run across the road.
In Skopje, preventive activities were conducted in the municipalities of Gazi Baba and Centar, focusing on road safety and preventing theft from vehicles. Drivers and other road users were provided with educational leaflets containing safety recommendations, including advice not to leave valuables inside vehicles.
On 26 August 2026, the Regional Centres for Border Affairs – South and North conducted preventive activities at the Bogorodica, Star Dojran and Medžitlija border crossings, as well as in the areas covered by the Belanovce and Popova Šapka border surveillance police stations.
At the southern border crossings, passengers and drivers entering the country were provided with information about the “Safe City” project and were informed about the importance of respecting traffic rules and the possibility of using the official “SAFE CITY” application to check for potential traffic violations and receive timely notifications.
In the area covered by the Northern Regional Centre for Border Affairs, activities focused on forest fire prevention and protection, with educational leaflets distributed to citizens.
In the area of the Štip Police Department, preventive activities were conducted in Štip, Kočani, Sveti Nikole and Probištip, focusing on road safety, while activities in Berovo focused on preventing outdoor fires.
Police officers from the Prevention Units of the Kavadarci and Negotino Police Departments also conducted road safety activities, emphasizing the mandatory use of seat belts and the importance of consistently respecting all traffic rules and regulations. Educational materials prepared in cooperation with the Republic Council for Road Traffic Safety and the Faculty of Security – Skopje were distributed as part of the activities.
