Today (May 18, 2026), police officers from the Prevention Unit of the Police Department of Veles conducted a preventive activity in the municipality of Gradsko and in the villages of Nogaevci and Vinichani on the topic "Beware of Phone Scams." The activity was carried out to inform and educate citizens about the dangers of phone scams, how to recognize them, and how to avoid becoming victims of this type of fraud. In direct communication with citizens, especially the elderly, it was pointed out that the most common type of scam involves unknown individuals misleading them into believing that their loved ones are victims of traffic accidents, posing as police officers, doctors, or lawyers, and requesting a certain sum of money to perform an operation or to secure the release of family members from criminal prosecution. As part of the preventive activities, printed educational materials were distributed. The Police Department of Veles urges citizens to be cautious, not to fall for these types of scams, and to be vigilant when communicating with unknown individuals, reporting any suspicious cases to the police station.
On May 18, 2026, the Prevention Department of the Police Department of Skopje organized working meetings with representatives from the Education Sector of the municipalities of Kisela Voda, Saraj, and Chair. During the working meetings, it was agreed that before the end of the school year, meetings would be held with the Parent Council in elementary schools to collectively discuss the real problems characteristic of each school individually, where parents will also be informed about the preventive activities that have been carried out both individually and collectively, as well as the upcoming preventive activities related to the prevention of violence, addictions, gambling, juvenile delinquency, and domestic violence, aimed at preventing violence through organized fights among groups of children.
Additionally, there will be discussions about the semi-graduation celebrations, introducing parents to the positive legal regulations.
