Preventive Activities by the Veles, Skopje and Shtip Sector for Internal Affairs to Protect Against Fraud, Improve Traffic Culture and Prevent Violence in Schools

Today (19.05.2026), police officers from the Negotino Police Department carried out a preventive activity on the topic “Protection Against Fraud.” During the activity, citizens were informed about the dangers of telephone scams, with emphasis on the most common fraud schemes in which unknown persons mislead victims by claiming that their relatives have been involved in traffic accidents. The fraudsters falsely present themselves and request money allegedly needed for medical operations or for releasing family members from criminal prosecution.

Citizens were also warned not to open suspicious messages related to alleged traffic violations registered by the “Safe City” system, through which victims are encouraged to provide personal information and bank account details. Printed educational materials were distributed as part of the preventive campaign.

On 19.05.2026, a traffic prevention and educational activity was conducted with second-grade students at the municipal primary school “Pestalozzi” in the Municipality of Centar, aimed at educating children about the role of pedestrians in traffic and other aspects that help build traffic culture among children of that age. The children were introduced to basic traffic concepts, rules and regulations, as well as the role of police officers in traffic, in a manner adapted to their age.

Today, the Prevention Department at the Skopje Sector for Internal Affairs also held working meetings with representatives of the Education Sector of the Municipality of Aerodrom. It was agreed that, until the end of the school year, meetings would be organized with parent councils in primary schools to discuss the real issues characteristic of each school individually. Parents will also be informed about preventive activities already implemented individually and jointly, as well as future activities related to the prevention of violence, addictions, gambling, juvenile delinquency and domestic violence, with the aim of preventing violence through organized fights among groups of children.

Today, police officers from the Probishtip Traffic Safety Police Department implemented preventive activities under the slogans “Park Consciously, Park Responsibly” and “We Are All Pedestrians.” The main goal of the activities was to improve traffic culture, ensure maximum respect for traffic rules and regulations, and strengthen trust and cooperation between the police and citizens.

Meanwhile, in Berovo, police officers from the Berovo Police Department carried out the preventive activity “Protection Against Fires,” during which they spoke with citizens about the need for maximum responsibility and care for forest resources. Printed educational materials were also distributed during these activities.
