Today (6 August 2026), police officers from the Veles Road Traffic Police Station carried out the preventive road safety campaign "Don't Use a Mobile Phone While Driving" in Veles, informing drivers about the dangers and consequences of using a mobile phone while operating a motor vehicle.
Police officers from the Prevention Unit of the Skopje Sector for Internal Affairs and the Kavadarci Road Traffic Police Unit conducted the "Wear Your Seat Belt" campaign in Skopje and Kavadarci. Through direct communication with citizens, they highlighted the mandatory use of seat belts in vehicles, as well as the importance of complying with all traffic rules and regulations to improve personal safety.
Police officers from the Prevention Department of the Kumanovo Sector for Internal Affairs, together with officers from the Shtip Sector for Internal Affairs, conducted preventive activities in Kumanovo, Sveti Nikole, Vinica and Kochani aimed at motorcycle and electric scooter riders. The campaign focused on the recent amendments to the Law on Road Traffic Safety, emphasizing that electric scooters may only be operated by persons aged 18 or over. During the activities, citizens were also informed about the other amendments to the law and were provided with educational leaflets.
Meanwhile, police officers from the Ropotovo Police Unit within the Bitola Sector for Internal Affairs held an educational session on road safety for the youngest residents of the village of Debreshte, introducing them to the basic traffic rules with the aim of developing a strong road safety culture from an early age.
Police officers from the Berovo Police Station also carried out preventive wildfire awareness activities in Berovo. Through direct communication with citizens, they stressed the importance of responsible behaviour in nature, with particular emphasis on avoiding open fires, not discarding cigarette butts, and immediately reporting any fire to the emergency number 112. Farmers were advised to carry out agricultural activities with caution, particularly regarding the risks of fires caused by burning field boundaries, crop stubble, dry grass and waste. Citizens were also informed that causing a fire constitutes a criminal offence punishable under the law. Educational printed materials, prepared in cooperation with the Public Enterprise "National Forests", were distributed, reminding citizens to comply with the nationwide forest access ban in force until 31 August 2026.
In the areas of Negotino, Bitola and Skopje, police officers from the Negotino Police Department, the Bitola Sector for Internal Affairs and the Skopje Sector for Internal Affairs also conducted preventive activities aimed at preventing property crime.
