Today (05.08.2026), the Prevention Unit of the Veles Sector for Internal Affairs (SVR Veles) carried out the preventive and educational campaign "Safe Pedestrian Street Crossing – Be Responsible in Traffic" at several locations in Veles. Pedestrians were reminded that, as active participants in road traffic, they are obliged to comply with traffic rules and regulations. They were advised to cross streets only at designated pedestrian crossings, avoid using headphones and mobile phones while crossing, and exercise extra caution, particularly during the evening hours when walking in poorly lit areas.
The Prevention Unit of SVR Kumanovo conducted a preventive campaign at the Romanovce toll station on the Friendship Motorway, targeting drivers transiting through the country. Drivers were advised to take regular breaks, as fatigue is one of the leading causes of traffic accidents during the summer season, and to strictly observe traffic rules and regulations.
Road safety preventive activities were also carried out by the Prevention Department of SVR Skopje and SVR Shtip in Skopje, Berovo, Shtip, and Kochani. As part of the campaign, printed educational materials containing road safety recommendations, prepared in cooperation with the Republic Council for Road Traffic Safety and the Faculty of Security – Skopje, were distributed to citizens.
Police officers from the Probishtip Police Department conducted preventive activities aimed at preventing wildfires and illegal logging. Through direct communication with citizens, they emphasized the importance of responsible behaviour in nature, with particular attention to avoiding the lighting of open fires, refraining from discarding cigarette butts, and immediately reporting any wildfire to the emergency number 112.
Farmers were advised to carry out agricultural activities with caution, highlighting the fire risks associated with burning field boundaries, stubble, dry grass, and waste on agricultural land. Citizens were also reminded that causing wildfires and engaging in illegal logging are criminal offences punishable under the law.
Printed educational materials, prepared in cooperation with the Public Enterprise National Forests, were distributed to citizens, reminding them that the ban on movement in forests remains in force until 31 August 2026.
