Today (07.08.2026), police officers from the Prevention Department of the Skopje Sector for Internal Affairs (SVR Skopje) and the Prevention Unit of SVR Veles carried out preventive activities in Skopje, as well as in the villages of Karaslari, Crkvino, and Kochilari in the Veles region, aimed at preventing fires. Citizens were reminded of the importance of protecting the environment and reducing the risk of forest and open-area fires, as well as exercising caution while carrying out agricultural activities. They were advised that greater vigilance is required during the summer period, along with continuous cooperation with the competent institutions and the mandatory reporting of irresponsible behavior.
Police officers from the Chashka Police Department conducted a road safety preventive activity on the regional road Veles–Izvor village, reminding drivers of their obligation to adjust their speed in accordance with traffic signs and road conditions. They also highlighted the risks of failing to comply with traffic rules and regulations, emphasizing that such behavior endangers not only their own safety but also the safety of all other road users.
Police officers from the Prevention Unit of SVR Tetovo and the Traffic Police Department of the Negotino Police Station carried out preventive activities in Tetovo and Negotino aimed at pedestrians. The campaign reminded pedestrians that, as active participants in traffic, they are also obliged to comply with traffic rules and regulations. They were advised to cross streets only at marked pedestrian crossings, avoid using headphones and mobile phones while crossing, and remain especially cautious during the evening hours when walking in poorly lit areas.
Preventive road safety activities were also conducted by police officers from SVR Shtip in Kochani, Shtip, and Delchevo. The purpose of these activities is to improve traffic culture and reduce the number of road traffic accidents. As part of the campaign, printed educational materials were distributed to citizens.
During the previous day, police officers from the Police Stations in Sveti Nikole, Probishtip, and Berovo carried out preventive activities under the campaign "Neighbourhood Patrols – Together for a Safer Community." The activities took place at several locations where young people commonly gather during the evening hours, including parks, sports grounds, and hospitality venues.
Police officers held direct conversations with young people and other citizens, emphasizing the importance of respecting the law, behaving responsibly in public places, preserving public order and peace, and protecting public property and urban infrastructure. Particular emphasis was placed on preventing peer violence, the abuse of alcohol and psychoactive substances, as well as recognizing and avoiding other forms of risky behavior.
