Preventive activities by RC for Border Affairs West and SVR Tetovo on safe long-distance travel and protection against outdoor fires
Police officers from the Qafasan Border Checks Police Station and prevention officers from the Regional Center for Border Affairs West conducted preventive activities today (09 August 2026) at the Qafasan Border Crossing, aimed at protecting the safety and security of citizens and passengers crossing the state border.
As part of the activities, police officers provided advice and recommendations for safe travel and appropriate behaviour in high-temperature conditions, particularly during long journeys and while waiting at border crossings. Special emphasis was placed on preventing heatstroke and the consequences of exposure to high temperatures, with bottles of water distributed to passengers.
Passengers were also provided with educational leaflets containing information on ways to prevent heatstroke, the importance of careful and safe driving, and the need for increased caution when travelling in high-temperature conditions.
Today (09 August 2025), the Prevention Unit within SVR Tetovo, in cooperation with police officers from the Galate Police Department and the Public Enterprise “National Forests”, conducted a preventive-educational campaign at several locations in the villages of Vrapchishte, Gradec, Negotino, Dobri Dol, Senokos, Toplica, Zubovce and Galate, under the motto “Summer Without Fires – Flames Are Unstoppable.”
During the activities, attention was drawn to the increased risk of forest and stubble fires, the dangers of throwing cigarette butts, and the general risks of causing fires through negligence. Drivers were provided with educational leaflets and recommendations aimed at raising awareness and informing them about the applicable legislation and the penalties for violations.
