Preventive activities for children's safety in traffic and the prevention of addictions

Today (February 25, 2026), police officers from the Prevention Department of the Police Directorate in Veles conducted an educational lecture on the topic "Traffic Rules for Young Pedestrians" at the Primary School "St. Cyril and Methodius" in Veles for students from the first to the third grade, while a lecture on the same topic was also held by police officers from the Prevention Department of the Police Directorate in Tetovo at the Primary School "Kosta Racin" in the village of Brvenica.

The aim of these activities was to familiarize children, as the youngest participants in traffic, with the basic traffic rules and regulations from an early age. Through video presentations, direct communication, and sharing examples, students were informed about how to properly move and cross the street, the necessity of being cautious when in the role of pedestrians or cyclists, with an emphasis on the consequences and dangers posed by disregarding traffic rules. Additionally, police officers from the Traffic Safety Department of the Police Station in Kavadarci conducted a traffic preventive activity titled "Drive Responsibly" at several locations in Kavadarci, aimed at increasing safety in traffic and raising traffic culture, in order to reduce the risk of traffic accidents. Preventive activities for safer traffic were also carried out by police officers from the Police Directorate in Stip in Sveti Nikole, Stip, and Kochani.

Police officers from the Regional Center for Public Safety East and the Police Station in Delchevo held an educational lecture yesterday at the Primary School "Vanco Prke" in Delchevo on the topic: "Prevention of Substance Abuse: Drugs, Alcohol, Smoking, Gambling, Internet..." The aim of this preventive-educational activity was for the students to become aware of the health hazards associated with the use of drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes, as well as the negative impacts on the development of young individuals, families, and the broader social environment. They were also explained the forms and manifestations of addiction, which contribute to aggressive and antisocial behavior, along with the methods for prevention and the legal penalties foreseen for any potential violations of the laws. The students were advised to use social media carefully, specifically not to accept any posted challenges.
