Preventive activities for safe traffic, protection from outdoor fires, protection from theft and fraud, and prevention of domestic violence

Today (14 August 2026), preventive activities for safe traffic were carried out in Negotino, Kavadarci, Štip and Kočani.

In Negotino, the activity was conducted under the theme “Don’t forget, we are all pedestrians”, during which drivers were advised to behave responsibly in traffic and to pay particular attention before marked pedestrian crossings in order to protect pedestrians as the most vulnerable category of road users.

Police officers from the Road Traffic Safety Police Department at the Kavadarci OVR also conducted an activity on the topic “Consequences of driving a technically defective vehicle”, emphasizing to drivers their obligation to regularly maintain their vehicles and ensure their technical roadworthiness as a key prerequisite for safe participation in traffic.

Meanwhile, the activities in Štip and Kočani were held under the theme “Park consciously, park responsibly.” During the activity, drivers were provided with leaflets containing useful advice and were informed about the relevant legal regulations and their obligation to park vehicles in appropriately designated spaces so as not to obstruct the normal flow of traffic.

In Gradsko, Delčevo and the Municipality of Zelenikovo, police officers conducted preventive activities aimed at fire protection. Citizens were advised to exercise caution in order to prevent the risk of causing fires in open areas during the summer period and, should they notice a fire, to report it by calling 112.

Today, a preventive activity on protection against theft and fraud was also conducted in Štip. During direct conversations, elderly citizens and pensioners were provided with leaflets containing advice on how to recognize different types of fraud and protect themselves from theft. They were also informed about the relevant legal provisions and procedures that can be undertaken to protect themselves from these types of property crimes.

In Delčevo, an activity was also conducted under the themes “Don’t be a silent witness” and “There is help for a life without violence.” During meetings with citizens, advice on self-protection was provided, along with information on available assistance and ways to recognize violence, as well as guidance on what they can do if they find themselves in a situation where they witness a form of violence. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of cooperation and timely communication with the police, especially accurate and prompt reporting by calling 112.

The Prevention Unit within the Skopje SVR also conducted a preventive activity at the Intercity Bus Station in Skopje under the motto “Anyone can be a victim.” The main objective was to raise citizens’ safety awareness and strengthen trust and cooperation between the police and citizens. During the activity, citizens were advised not to leave valuables in visible places when leaving their vehicles, in order to avoid becoming targets of criminals committing thefts from vehicles, and to pay attention to their personal belongings.
