Today (August 15, 2026) on the highway Gostivar–Tetovo, near the Gostivar toll station, police officers from the Prevention Department of the Tetovo Police Directorate, in collaboration with officers from the Traffic Safety Police Department of Gostivar, conducted a preventive activity as part of the campaign "Do not use a mobile phone while driving."
The activity was aimed at all traffic participants operating motor vehicles, with the goal of raising awareness about the dangers and risks of using a mobile phone while driving.
Drivers were handed out flyers containing educational content, which conveyed clear messages about responsible behavior in traffic, including: "Every call can wait" and "Using a mobile phone while driving is dangerous and risky."
The campaign also presented statistical data on the number of fatalities and injuries in traffic accidents caused by the use of a mobile phone while operating a motor vehicle, as well as information on the penalties according to the Law on Road Traffic Safety.
The preventive activities are aimed at increasing the safety of all traffic participants and encouraging responsible and conscientious behavior on the roads.
We urge all drivers not to use their mobile phones while operating a vehicle. No call or message is more important than the safety of your life and the lives of other traffic participants.
The campaign was implemented with educational materials prepared by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Council for Road Traffic Safety, and the Faculty of Security – Skopje.
