Today (09.07.2026), police officers from the Prevention Unit of the Veles Sector for Internal Affairs (SIA Veles) carried out a road safety preventive campaign titled “Drive Responsibly” at the Sopot toll station on the Skopje–Veles motorway. Drivers were reminded of the importance of driving while well-rested, as fatigue and reduced concentration are among the leading causes of traffic accidents during the summer season. They were also advised that, during this period of increased traffic volume and long-distance travel to summer destinations, it is particularly important to take regular breaks and follow safe driving recommendations while respecting traffic regulations and road signs.

At the same time, police officers from the Traffic Police Station within SIA Veles conducted a preventive campaign titled “Speeding Is Dangerous, Speeding Kills”, emphasizing the obligation to adjust speed according to road conditions and traffic signs, as well as the risks associated with failing to comply with traffic rules and regulations.

Police officers from the Traffic Police Station within the Negotino Department of Internal Affairs also organized a preventive activity under the slogan “Do Not Use a Mobile Phone While Driving”, highlighting the dangers of mobile phone use behind the wheel and the importance of protecting both personal safety and the safety of all road users.

Police officers from the Gradsko Police Department carried out preventive activities aimed at fire prevention, urging citizens to exercise greater caution during the summer months, particularly while performing agricultural work, and to report any irresponsible behaviour that could lead to fires.

Meanwhile, police officers from the Chashka Police Station organized a preventive campaign against telephone fraud, advising citizens to remain cautious when communicating with unknown persons and never to disclose personal information or payment card details in order to avoid becoming victims of such scams.

Educational printed materials were distributed as part of all preventive activities.

Today (09.07.2026), officers from the Traffic Police Station in Berovo conducted a preventive campaign entitled “Wear Your Seat Belt” at several locations across Berovo. During the campaign, drivers received educational leaflets emphasizing the importance of complying with traffic regulations, particularly the mandatory use of seat belts. The objective of the campaign was to enhance overall road safety.

The Prevention Department of the Skopje Sector for Internal Affairs carried out an educational preventive campaign under the slogans “Anyone Can Be a Victim” and “Do Not Leave Valuables in Your Vehicle” within the jurisdiction of the Chair Police Station.

During the activity, passers-by were advised on crime prevention measures, including the need to safeguard personal belongings such as handbags, mobile phones, wallets and other valuables, as well as items left inside their vehicles. Educational leaflets containing practical safety recommendations were distributed. The primary goal of the campaign was to raise public security awareness and strengthen trust and cooperation between the police and citizens.

In the area covered by the Mirkovci Police Station, specifically along the Blace main road, police officers implemented measures and activities under the “Fires 2026” Operational Action Plan, aimed at the early prevention of wildfires and informing citizens about the applicable legal provisions concerning the causing of forest fires.

During the campaign, educational materials were distributed and posters promoting forest fire prevention were displayed. Citizens were encouraged to demonstrate greater awareness in protecting forests from fires and were reminded to immediately report any open-air fire by calling the emergency number 112.
