Preventive Activities for Road Safety, Fire Prevention, and Raising Awareness About the Dangers of Weapons and Fireworks

Police officers from the Štip Sector for Internal Affairs (SIA) and the Police Unit in Čaška carried out preventive campaigns "Wear Your Seat Belt" and "Don't Use a Mobile Phone While Driving" in the areas of Čaška, Štip, and Kočani.

Through direct communication with citizens, officers emphasized the legal obligation to wear seat belts and to fully comply with all traffic rules and regulations. Citizens were reminded that wearing a seat belt is mandatory for both drivers and passengers and is essential for improving personal safety. Drivers were also informed about the dangers of using mobile phones while driving and the potentially serious consequences of distracted driving.

The Prevention Departments of the Skopje and Štip SIAs also conducted the "Drive Rested" campaign in the areas of Mirkovci Police Unit, Štip, and Kočani. Drivers were advised to ensure they are well-rested before getting behind the wheel, as fatigue and reduced concentration are among the leading causes of road traffic accidents during the summer. Those traveling long distances were encouraged to take frequent breaks during their journey.

In addition, police officers from the Prevention Department of the Skopje SIA, together with the Berovo and Delčevo Police Stations, organized fire prevention activities in the areas of Gjorče Petrov, Berovo, and Delčevo. Citizens were warned about the dangers of carelessly discarding or burning waste, setting fire to stubble fields, throwing cigarette butts, and leaving other flammable materials in open areas or near forests, in order to reduce the risk of wildfires.

Police officers from the Štip SIA also carried out activities aimed at preventing pickpocketing. At several locations throughout Štip, officers informed citizens—particularly older residents—about practical ways to protect themselves from pickpocket theft and distributed educational leaflets.

Meanwhile, the Prevention Unit of the Kumanovo SIA, in cooperation with the Municipal Prevention Council, organized a public awareness campaign in Kumanovo's central square under the slogan "Celebrate with Your Heart, Not with Weapons." During the event, citizens received educational leaflets and were informed about the dangers and risks associated with the use of firearms and pyrotechnic devices, the possible consequences of their misuse, and the legal penalties prescribed for such offenses.
