Today (16 July 2026), police officers from the Prevention Unit of the Kumanovo Sector for Internal Affairs and the Prevention Department of the Skopje Sector for Internal Affairs carried out preventive activities aimed at protecting against fires.
Citizens were informed about the dangers of careless disposal and burning of waste, burning of crop residue, discarding cigarette butts, and leaving other flammable materials in open areas and near forest belts, in order to reduce the risk of wildfires.
The activities were aimed at raising public safety awareness, strengthening trust and cooperation between the police and citizens, and encouraging the timely reporting of any irresponsible behavior. Informational leaflets were also distributed during the campaign.
The Prevention Unit of the Kumanovo Sector for Internal Affairs also conducted the “Drive Rested” campaign at the Romanovce toll station. Drivers were reminded of the importance of being well-rested before driving, as fatigue and reduced concentration are among the leading causes of traffic accidents during the summer. They were advised to take regular breaks when traveling long distances.
Police officers from the Prevention Unit of the Veles Sector for Internal Affairs carried out the “Do Not Use a Mobile Phone While Driving” campaign in Veles. During direct communication with drivers, they highlighted the dangers of using a mobile phone while operating a vehicle.
Meanwhile, the Prevention Unit of the Tetovo Sector for Internal Affairs organized preventive activities at the Tetovo city market to protect citizens from pickpocketing. Police officers informed citizens, especially elderly people, about ways to protect themselves from this type of crime and distributed educational leaflets with crime prevention advice.
