Preventive activities for safe traffic and the prevention of begging

Preventive activities for safe traffic and the prevention of begging

Today (May 12, 2026), police officers from the Prevention Department and the General Crime Department of the SVR Veles conducted a preventive activity aimed at preventing begging. Citizens were urged to refrain from giving money to those who beg, and to report any observed cases of begging, especially by children on the streets, to the relevant authorities. The goal of the preventive activity is to address the issue of individuals on the streets, ensuring their protection and full integration into society.

The Prevention Department of the SVR Skopje, on the other hand, conducted an educational session on traffic culture with the children from the International School "Nova," focusing on the behavior of children as participants in traffic in the roles of pedestrians and cyclists. Police officers from the PS BPS and the Prevention Department of the SVR Bitola participated in a roundtable at the Technical Faculty in Bitola dedicated to the use of electric scooters. In Vinica and Štip, police officers from the SVR Štip carried out a traffic preventive activity aimed at raising the level of traffic culture, with a particular emphasis on the need for awareness among drivers not to operate vehicles under the influence of alcohol, given that alcohol significantly impairs driving skills, disrupts psychomotor abilities, and poses a serious threat to their safety and that of other road users.

Additionally, today police officers from the Border Surveillance Police Station – Ohrid Lake conducted an educational activity with students from the Primary School "Mirka Ginova" in the village of Labuništa. The children were introduced to the workings of the police, the official equipment, and the activities that are undertaken daily to protect citizens and maintain the security of the state border and Ohrid Lake.
