Yesterday (April 3, 2026), police officers from the Police Station in Kruševo conducted a preventive activity with first-grade students at the Primary School "Nikola Karev" in Kruševo. The workshop focused on safe traffic, emphasizing pedestrians, as part of the pedestrian week.
Today (April 4, 2026), in the Central City Area and in the village of Zletovo in the Municipality of Probishtip, police officers from the Department of Internal Affairs in Probishtip, under the Public Security Bureau in Štip, carried out preventive activities in the traffic sector as part of the "World Pedestrian Week," addressing the most vulnerable category of road participants. In the realm of preventive activities, initiatives for pedestrians were implemented, including: "Be Responsible at the Crosswalk," "Don't Forget, We Are All Pedestrians, Be Responsible in Traffic," "Park Thoughtfully, Park Responsibly," and "Do Not Use Your Mobile Phone While Crossing the Street."
As part of the activity, police officers distributed educational leaflets to drivers, created by the National Council for Road Safety, with the message that "Improper parking is a cause of numerous traffic accidents affecting children, pedestrians, and cyclists."
Additionally, police officers, through direct communication with citizens, advised pedestrians to use designated traffic areas for walking—sidewalks—and to utilize crosswalks when crossing streets, thereby directly influencing the enhancement of traffic safety. Pedestrians were also reminded that while crossing the street, they should not talk on their mobile phones or use headphones, as per the amendments to the Road Safety Law, they may be sanctioned for using electronic devices that could distract them in traffic.
It was also pointed out regarding the sanctions that arise from the violation of legal provisions, and participants in traffic were provided with printed educational materials created by the National Council for Road Traffic Safety, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Faculty of Security in Skopje.
The primary goal is to enhance traffic culture in the direction of respecting traffic rules, regulations, and signage, as well as to strengthen trust and cooperation between the police and citizens.
