Yesterday and today (January 15/16, 2026), police officers from the Tetovo Police Department, Ohrid Police Department, Stip Police Department, and the Eastern Regional Center conducted preventive activities for safe traffic and protection against theft and fraud. Throughout yesterday in Ohrid, the Prevention Unit of the Ohrid Police Department launched a traffic safety campaign titled "Be a Responsible Driver - Use Winter Equipment." At various points in the city, through conversations with drivers of motor vehicles, they reminded them of the necessity and legal obligation to possess winter equipment in their vehicles, as a fundamental prerequisite for safe movement of motor vehicles in winter conditions. Today, in Delcevo, police officers from the Delcevo Police Station informed citizens about the harmful consequences and the penalties for using a mobile phone while operating a vehicle.
The Prevention Unit of the Tetovo Internal Affairs Sector conducted a preventive activity yesterday at the city market in Tetovo to protect citizens from pickpocketing. The police officers informed citizens on how to protect themselves from such criminal acts, as well as where to report if they become a victim. Today, police officers from the Eastern Regional Center also carried out a preventive activity in Delcevo aimed at preventing property crimes, with a special focus on protection against fraud, particularly targeting older citizens. Through direct conversations and the distribution of educational materials, citizens were informed about the most common types of fraud involving fake traffic accidents, where scammers pose as police officers, lawyers, prosecutors, or doctors over the phone, asking the victim for a certain sum of money. They were advised that if they receive such a phone call, they should hang up and immediately report the case to a police station or call the numbers 112 or 192.
