Today (January 13, 2026), police officers from the Police Department of Štip conducted preventive activities in various locations within the territory of Štip. In Probištip, police officers from the Police Station of Probištip, as part of the preventive activities under the motto "Do not use your mobile phone while crossing the street" and "Drive a technically sound vehicle," emphasized to citizens through direct communication and the distribution of educational leaflets the necessity of adhering to traffic rules and regulations to enhance safety on the roads, particularly the need for pedestrians to cross streets carefully without using mobile phones, and for drivers to always operate technically sound vehicles, meaning regular checks should be conducted. Citizens were also informed about the penalties that are stipulated for non-compliance with the laws. In the territories of Kočani and Viniča, police officers from the Police Station for Public Safety in Kočani and Viniča carried out a preventive activity aimed at alerting citizens to the harmful consequences that may arise from driving under the influence of alcohol.
Meanwhile, police officers from the Prevention Department of the Police Department of Štip and the Police Station for Organized Crime in Štip conducted a preventive activity at the "Association of Pensioners" in Štip, aimed at informing retirees on how to protect themselves from property crimes, especially from fraudsters, who often target older citizens. Through direct conversations and the distribution of educational materials, citizens were informed about the most common type of fraud involving fake traffic accidents, where fraudsters, posing as police officers, lawyers, prosecutors, or doctors over the phone, request a certain sum of money from the victim. They were advised that if they receive such a phone call, they should hang up and immediately report the case to the police station or call the numbers 112 or 192.
