Yesterday (29.07.2026), the Prevention Unit of the Bitola Police Department, in cooperation with the Republic Council for Road Traffic Safety (RCRTS), carried out the "Drive Rested" preventive campaign at the Medžitlija Border Crossing. Drivers transiting through the area were advised to exercise caution in traffic, take more frequent breaks, observe speed limits indicated by traffic signs, and refrain from throwing cigarette butts out of vehicle windows. They were also provided with bottled water and educational materials containing guidelines for a safe summer free of traffic accidents and wildfires.
Today (30.07.2026), police officers from the Prevention Unit of the Tetovo Police Department held a meeting with members of the Tetovo Pensioners' Association. The discussion focused on strengthening public trust in the police as a community service, while participants exchanged information and experiences aimed at improving prevention efforts and reducing the risk of wildfires. Particular emphasis was placed on the need for caution during agricultural work and the harvest season in order to prevent open-air fires.
Meanwhile, the Prevention Unit of the Kumanovo Police Department conducted the preventive campaign "Together with the Citizens." At several locations across the city, citizens were reminded of the importance of complying with legal regulations during family celebrations, particularly by refraining from using firearms and pyrotechnic devices. They were also advised to safeguard their personal belongings in crowded areas, while drivers were urged to act responsibly and avoid illegally parking vehicles on sidewalks.
As part of wildfire prevention efforts, yesterday (29.07.2026) police officers from the Debar Police Station held meetings with residents of the villages of Selokući, Spas, Krivci and Banište. Through direct interaction with local residents, they stressed the importance of exercising caution when clearing fields and stubble, avoiding the burning of waste and other materials, and helping prevent the outbreak and spread of fires. Citizens were also reminded to immediately notify the competent authorities upon spotting an open-air fire.
On 30.07.2026, preventive activities were also carried out within the jurisdiction of the Shtip Police Department, in Shtip, Vinica and Berovo. Under the slogan "Drive Rested," drivers in Shtip received educational leaflets highlighting the importance of starting their journeys well-rested. In Vinica and Berovo, police officers discussed the topic "Prevention and Protection from Open-Air Fires, Forest Fires and Fires in Enclosed Spaces." Through direct conversations, citizens were informed about the dangers of lighting fires in open areas, forest fires and fires in residential and other facilities.
Preventive activities were also conducted today in the area covered by the Skopje Police Department, specifically at the recreational area of Sredno Vodno. Drivers were advised not to leave valuable items inside parked vehicles in order to avoid attracting thieves. They were also reminded of the importance of continuous cooperation with the competent institutions and the obligation to report irresponsible behavior, such as dumping or burning waste, lighting fires in open areas or near forests, discarding cigarette butts and similar actions, so that the authorities can respond quickly and effectively. Educational leaflets covering both topics were distributed to citizens during the event.
