Today (19.06.2026), the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Prof. Dr. Astrit Iseni, paid a working visit to the Qafasan Border Crossing, where he held a meeting with the Mayor of the Municipality of Struga, Mendi Qyra, the Mayor of Pogradec, Ilir Xhakolli, the Mayor of Korçë, Florinda Zegulaj, as well as the management of the Western Regional Center for Border Affairs and the management of the Qafasan Border Crossing.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the forthcoming implementation of the “One Stop Shop” joint border control system between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Republic of Albania. The system will first be introduced at the Qafasan Border Crossing and subsequently expanded to the remaining border crossings between the two countries.
It was assessed that the establishment of this system represents a significant step toward enhancing cross-border cooperation and facilitating the movement of citizens through simplified procedures and reduced waiting times when crossing the state border, particularly during periods of increased passenger traffic.
In this regard, the importance of a coordinated approach and strong inter-institutional cooperation was emphasized, with the aim of ensuring that the “One Stop Shop” system provides a more efficient flow of passengers and a higher level of service for citizens of both countries.
