Deputy Minister Iseni at the Ministerial Forum on Justice and Internal Affairs EU-Western Balkans signed a joint plan to combat violent extremism.

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Astrit Iseni leads a delegation from the Ministry of Internal Affairs at the EU-Western Balkans Ministerial Forum, taking place today and tomorrow (October 30/31, 2025) in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The forum is organized under the Danish presidency of the Council of the European Union, in collaboration with the Ministry of Security and the Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The forum represents a significant gathering of ministers of internal affairs and justice from Western Balkan countries, as well as from the current and future presidency of the European Union, EU commissioners for internal affairs and justice, and representatives of relevant EU agencies.
On the first day of the forum dedicated to internal affairs, Deputy Minister Iseni emphasized the readiness and commitment of North Macedonia. Macedonia in the fight against organized crime, terrorism, and drug trafficking, as well as in strengthening the management of migration, asylum, and border control, in accordance with the EU Action Plan for the Western Balkans.

In a joint statement, participants agreed to continue their collaborative efforts to enhance cooperation in the online dimension of security, including preventing radicalization, terrorist financing, and drug trafficking, as well as combating organized crime. Additionally, the importance of further aligning visa policies and strengthening cooperation in the areas of migration, asylum, and border management was highlighted.
On the sidelines of the forum, Deputy Minister Iseni signed the new Joint Action Plan for the Prevention and Fight Against Violent Extremism, which foresees new mechanisms to enhance cooperation between institutions and civil society in the region.
