From May 18, 2026, to July 31, 2026, the Traffic Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted strengthened action controls across the entire territory of the country, targeting drivers of bicycles, electric bicycles, mopeds, motorcycles, tricycles, and quadricycles.
During the conducted controls, a total of 6,932 violations were recorded by drivers of electric bicycles, mopeds, motorcycles, tricycles, and quadricycles, as well as 33 violations committed by bicycle riders.
The highest number of violations was recorded in the area of the Skopje Police Department – 2,146, Bitola Police Department – 992, Veles Police Department – 856, Kumanovo Police Department – 583, Štip Police Department – 544, Tetovo Police Department – 541, Ohrid Police Department – 420, and Strumica Police Department – 327, while the Mobile Unit for Road Safety recorded 556 violations.
Of the total recorded violations, 5,678 pertained to the failure to wear a protective helmet while operating these types of vehicles.
For all recorded violations, appropriate measures were taken in accordance with the Law on Road Traffic Safety.
During the conducted controls, 15,715 other violations were also noted, and criminal charges were filed against 503 drivers in accordance with Article 297-a of the Criminal Code.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs continues with strengthened action controls across the entire territory of the country, aiming to enhance road safety and ensure strict adherence to traffic rules and regulations.
We urge all drivers of bicycles, electric bicycles, mopeds, motorcycles, tricycles, quadricycles, and light electric vehicles to participate responsibly in traffic, to respect traffic rules and regulations, to mandatory wear a protective helmet, and to refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol or other psychoactive substances.
