Three Individuals from Skopje Detained for Extortion and Threats in Operation “Cleaner” – Demanded €10,000 from a Resident of Delčevo

As part of Operation “Cleaner”, police officers from the Department of Criminal Police – Sector for General, Violent Crime and Domestic Violence, in coordination with the Shtip Sector for Internal Affairs – Delčevo Police Department and the Skopje Sector for Internal Affairs, conducted searches at two locations and detained three individuals from Skopje: Z.B. (61), M.B. (35) and B. А.(43).
The operation was carried out following the opening of a case by the Delčevo Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office concerning the criminal offences of “extortion” and “endangering security”, punishable under Articles 259 and 144, paragraph 2, of the Criminal Code.
According to the report, several individuals from Skopje threatened the life and physical safety of a resident of Delčevo, demanding that he pay them €10,000. They threatened that, otherwise, they would publish compromising materials.
During the searches, an illegal M57 pistol, calibre 7.62 mm, was found. Following checks, it was established that the firearm originated from a criminal offence of “aggravated theft” committed in the area under the jurisdiction of the Skopje Sector for Internal Affairs.
Following the full documentation of the case, appropriate criminal charges will be filed.
