During the night of 27/28 March 2026, in the period from 21:00 to 03:00, the Mobile Unit for Road Traffic Safety within the Traffic Affairs Sector conducted a targeted enforcement operation in the municipalities of Ilinden, Gazi Baba, and Kisela Voda. The focus of the operation was sanctioning drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol.
A total of 49 drivers were tested for alcohol; nine were found to be under the influence, while one driver refused to undergo testing.
In addition, 12 other traffic violations were detected, and five requests were submitted to initiate misdemeanor proceedings against legal entities and responsible persons.
One individual was deprived of liberty, and one vehicle was seized due to a criminal offense under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code – “reckless driving of a motor vehicle,” specifically driving under an active ban.
Appropriate charges have been filed against all offenders.
Such enforcement actions will continue in the upcoming period with the aim of increasing safety and protecting all road users.
Driving under the influence of alcohol remains one of the leading causes of traffic accidents, which often result in fatal consequences.
