The Tetovo Sector for Internal Affairs acts in accordance with the annual winter operations plan in the winter recreational centers Mavrovo and Popova Shapka, as well as throughout the entire area it covers. As in previous years, this year again a circular traffic flow has been introduced in Mavrovo and Popova Shapka in order to avoid any kind of road blockage. However, due to certain irresponsible drivers who do not respect this rule, complete traffic blockages occur.
Another problem is vehicles parked along the road, which prevents the competent institutions from fully cleaning the road, thus further hindering traffic movement. On some sections of the road towards Mavrovo, two-way traffic is not possible.
Before the start of the season, the Prevention Department of SVR Tetovo held several meetings with managers and owners of hotels and catering facilities in these two tourist locations, during which they were advised to take appropriate measures within their scope of work for visitor safety, as well as to provide a sufficient number of parking spaces for their clients.
In order to avoid repeating situations from previous years in Mavrovo and Popova Shapka, when SVR Tetovo additionally engaged police officers from other departments to physically regulate traffic by alternating vehicle movement and clearing traffic congestion, SVR Tetovo appeals to citizens to respect traffic rules and regulations, not to park their vehicles on the roadway, to respect police officers’ orders, and not to travel to these locations without appropriate winter equipment.
Only in this way can we all contribute together to greater traffic safety. SVR Tetovo informs citizens that tow truck services from Tetovo and Gostivar will be engaged whenever a vehicle obstructs traffic, and such vehicles will be removed and legally sanctioned.
