On 5 August 2026, between 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., the Mobile Road Traffic Safety Unit within the Traffic Affairs Sector carried out a traffic enforcement operation in the Tetovo area targeting riders of mopeds, motorcycles and light electric vehicles (e-scooters) who failed to comply with traffic laws and regulations.
During the operation, a total of 50 sanctions were imposed, including 9 against riders of light electric vehicles (e-scooters), 31 for riding a moped or motorcycle without wearing a protective helmet, one for an expired insurance policy, one for operating a motorcycle with an expired registration, one for driving without the appropriate licence category, one for driving under the influence of alcohol, one for other offences committed by moped and motorcycle riders, three for other traffic violations, and one request for proceedings against a legal entity.
One person was deprived of liberty on suspicion of committing the criminal offence under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code for operating a motor vehicle (moped) without holding a valid driving licence. The moped was seized.
In addition, one light electric vehicle (e-scooter) was temporarily seized after it was found to have been operated by a child while carrying another passenger.
Traffic enforcement operations will continue across the country in the coming period with the aim of sanctioning offenders, improving road safety and protecting all road users.
The Ministry of Interior appeals to all road users to respect traffic rules and regulations, thereby contributing to safer roads for everyone.
