The Internal Control Department, Criminal Investigations and Professional Standards of the Ministry of Interior has filed a criminal complaint with the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office for the Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption – Specialized Department for the Prosecution of Criminal Offences Committed by Persons with Police Powers and Members of the Prison Police, against E.E., on suspicion of committing the criminal offence of “abuse of official position and authority” under Article 353 of the Criminal Code.
The suspect, E.E., employed as a Junior Police Officer in the Traffic Safety Department of the Skopje Sector for Internal Affairs, during the period from April to July 2026, while performing official duties at the tow-truck ("Pajak") depot of the Public Enterprise "Gradski Parking" – Skopje, was responsible for exercising police powers, including issuing records of established traffic offences, issuing misdemeanor payment orders with fines, and collecting fines electronically from drivers or vehicle owners who had committed traffic violations. During this period, he repeatedly acted unlawfully.
By abusing his official position and authority and failing to perform his official duties as a police officer, E.E. unlawfully appropriated approximately MKD 12,700 for his personal benefit and caused damage of approximately MKD 85,500 to the Budget of the Republic of North Macedonia.
Inspectors from the Internal Control Department, Criminal Investigations and Professional Standards arrested the suspect, who has been detained at a police station.
The Internal Control Department, Criminal Investigations and Professional Standards will also submit a proposal to initiate disciplinary proceedings against E.E. and will impose the mandatory measure of temporary suspension from duty until the disciplinary proceedings are concluded.
