Today (10 November 2025), State Secretary Sašo Petrushevski held a working meeting with Ms. Melita Gruevska-Graham, the Special Representative of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) for the Western Balkans. The meeting was also attended by representatives from the competent departments of the Ministry of Interior and other ICMPD representatives.
During the meeting, they discussed the current and future opportunities for strengthening cooperation between the two institutions, reviewing the possibilities for implementing a national project in accordance with the priority areas in the field of migration.
State Secretary Petrushevski reaffirmed the commitment to a comprehensive reform of the Ministry of Interior, especially the Border Police and the Training Centre. In order to enhance operational capacity, institutional efficiency and the professional development of the Ministry’s employees, the need was highlighted for technical assistance in migration management, capacity building and strategic support in line with European Union standards and best practices.
Furthermore, the outlines of future cooperation between the two institutions were presented, in the context of ICMPD’s portfolio in the Western Balkan region, with special emphasis on the proposed activities, expected results and concrete objectives.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the State Secretary noted that the cooperation is at an exceptionally high level and that ICMPD is a continuous partner of the Macedonian Ministry of Interior not only in managing migration flows, but also in the modernization of the institution through the development of efficient and technically supported working processes, as well as effective training and human resource management.
