On the occasion of 7 May – Macedonian Police Day, the Ministry of Internal Affairs carried out a number of activities aimed at strengthening professional cooperation, transparency, and public trust.
Today (06.05.2026), in Kavadarci, the Regional Center for Border Affairs South successfully organized a five-a-side football tournament under the motto “Strong in service, united on the field.” The tournament was intended to enhance cooperation, strengthen mutual trust, and develop team spirit among members of the Ministry and partner services. Participating teams included the Regional Center for Border Affairs South, SVR Bitola, SVR Veles, the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit “Tiger”, the Rapid Deployment Unit, and FRONTEX. The matches were played in a fair and sporting atmosphere, while the participation of FRONTEX representatives highlighted the importance of international cooperation.
At the same time, the Ohrid Lake Border Surveillance Police Station, within the Regional Center for Border Affairs West, held a presentation in Ohrid of its activities, responsibilities, and operational capacities. The event presented the role of the border police in protecting the state border, preventing cross-border crime, and maintaining security on Lake Ohrid, while part of the equipment and technical resources used by the unit were also displayed. Those present had the opportunity to become directly acquainted with the work and professional preparedness of the police officers.
As part of the concept “Cooperation between the police and citizens,” the Regional Center for Border Affairs East – Delchevo organized an “Open Day with the Police.” The event was attended by students from the primary schools “Vancho Prke” and “St. Kliment Ohridski” from Delchevo, together with their teachers. Police officers introduced visitors to the work of the border police, their equipment, and technical resources, while service dogs were also presented. The students had the opportunity to speak with police officers, ask questions, and familiarize themselves with police vehicles and equipment.
A similar activity was also organized by the Deve Bair Border Checkpoint and Border Surveillance Police Station, where students from “St. Joakim Krchovski” Primary School from Kriva Palanka were introduced to the work of the border crossing, as well as the equipment and vehicles used there.
Through these activities, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reaffirms its commitment to strengthening cooperation, transparency, and public trust, while further advancing the country’s security system.
