A delegation from the Department for Internal Control, Criminal Investigations and Professional Standards, led by Assistant Minister M.Sc. Ivica Stankovski, paid a working visit to Albania’s Police Oversight Agency, organized by DCAF – the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance. The delegation was welcomed by the Director of the Police Oversight Agency, Klevis Qose.
During the visit, discussions focused on strengthening the professional integrity of employees and enhancing internal capacities. The parties exchanged experiences regarding the organization and functioning of police oversight institutions, operational investigation methodologies, the handling of citizens’ complaints, accountability mechanisms, as well as challenges related to increasing transparency and public trust.
Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening regional cooperation and sharing best practices in the field of police oversight.
Representatives of the Agency presented the Albanian model of police oversight, its organizational structure, and the working practices of the Directorate of Investigations and the Directorate of Inspections and Complaints. The delegation from the Department presented its organizational structure and shared experiences related to the priorities of the Professional Integrity Plan 2026–2028.
