Police officers recorded 20,976 traffic violations in July, 496 persons detained for reckless driving

 

During the period from 01.07.2026 to 31.07.2026, as a result of the regular traffic controls carried out by police officers from all Sectors for Internal Affairs on roads throughout the country, a total of 20,976 payment orders were issued. Of these, 4,241 violations involved drivers who failed to comply with the prescribed speed limits.

A total of 496 persons were detained for reckless driving, including 81 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 373 for driving without a valid driving licence, 25 due to a previously imposed ban on operating a motor vehicle, three for exceeding the speed limit in a populated area, 13 for exceeding the speed limit outside a populated area, and one person for driving in the wrong direction.

During the same period, 332 vehicles were seized pursuant to Article 300-b of the Criminal Code.

Furthermore, according to the statistical overview of police activities, during July, 4,694 violations related to improper parking were recorded, as well as 430 sanctions for driving under the influence of alcohol.

In addition, in accordance with the provisions of the Road Traffic Safety Law, 2,073 motorcycle riders were sanctioned for not wearing a protective helmet. Also, 1,829 road users were sanctioned for not using a seat belt. Under the Law on Vehicles, 299 vehicles were removed from traffic due to being unregistered, while 125 were removed due to technical defects. A total of 44 drivers were sanctioned for failing to meet the prescribed requirements regarding vehicle window tinting (films).

Traffic controls will continue in the coming days. We appeal to all road users to respect traffic rules and regulations and to jointly contribute to safer roads.
