Enhanced traffic controls to ensure compliance with speed limits will continue throughout this weekend as part of the coordinated European action carried out by the European Roads Policing Network – ROADPOL.
From 3 to 9 August 2026, the Traffic Affairs Sector within the Ministry of Internal Affairs is conducting intensive controls aimed at detecting and sanctioning drivers who operate motor vehicles at speeds exceeding the legally permitted limits.
Excessive speed is not merely a traffic violation – it is one of the most common causes of serious road traffic accidents with tragic consequences. Every violation of the speed limit increases the risk of an accident and reduces the possibility of reacting in time.
Therefore, we appeal to all drivers to reduce their speed, adjust it to the road conditions and drive responsibly. Respecting speed limits means greater safety for you, your family and every other road user.
