On 23 July 2026, at around 03:30, the Police Department in Kochani received a report of a traffic accident on the Grdovci–Zrnovci regional road. A 24-year-old man, D.N. from the village of Gradec, Vinica municipality, lost control of an Opel passenger vehicle with Vinica registration plates and drove off the roadway.
As a result of the crash, passenger S.S. (28) from the village of Jakimovo, Vinica municipality, sustained serious injuries, while the driver and another passenger, D.A. (28) from the village of Istibanja, Vinica municipality, suffered minor injuries. Their injuries were confirmed at the Public Health Institution in Kochani.
An on-site investigation conducted by officers from the Kochani Police Department established that D.N. did not possess a valid driver's license. Further checks revealed that he was driving under the influence of alcohol, with a blood alcohol concentration of 1.69‰.
By order of a public prosecutor, D.N. was deprived of his liberty. After the case is fully documented, appropriate criminal charges will be filed.
