A criminal complaint for a brutal murder in the Kumanovo area is being investigated for connections to other cases

A criminal complaint for a brutal murder in the Kumanovo area is being investigated for connections to other cases

The Kumanovo Police Department has submitted a criminal complaint to the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Kumanovo against T.B. (25) from Kumanovo on reasonable suspicion of committing the criminal act of "murder" under Article 123, paragraph 2, point 1 of the Criminal Code.
Between January 27 and February 12, 2026, the suspect, in the village of Čelopjek, municipality of Staro Nagoričane, intentionally and cruelly took the life of the victim, a woman born in 1947.

He exploited the circumstance that the victim lived alone, was elderly, and incapacitated. When he entered her house, she was sleeping on the bed, and the suspect physically attacked her, delivering multiple blows that caused severe bodily injuries, from which the woman died.

Through intensive coordinated actions in the past few days by the Kumanovo Police Department, the Criminal Police Unit, the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Kumanovo, and the forensic teams from the Institute of Forensic Medicine, evidence has been secured indicating a connection between this incident and several other similar cases in the Kumanovo area.

Due to similarities regarding the choice of victim and the brutal manner of committing the crime, it is being investigated whether these cases also involve murders committed by the same perpetrator. An exhumation and autopsy were ordered yesterday for one of the potential victims, and traces and DNA from the deceased woman's body have been collected for analysis.

Investigative authorities are working on complex examinations and analyzes, as well as other actions to secure evidence, which cannot currently be shared with the public due to the confidentiality of the proceedings.
From the moment of his discovery, the suspect has been immediately deprived of his liberty and secured, and upon the prosecutor's proposal, a detention measure has been imposed. A psychiatric evaluation of the suspect has also been ordered by a team of expert forensic psychiatrists from the Institute of Psychiatry in Skopje.
