20 Sanctions and Two Criminal Offenses in an Action Control by the Mobile Unit in Kavadarci and Negotino; 13 Persons Deprived of Liberty Nationwide

During 20/21 February 2026, in the period from 21:00 to 03:00, the Mobile Traffic Safety Unit within the Traffic Affairs Sector carried out an action control in the area of SVR Veles, specifically under OVR Kavadarci, aimed at sanctioning drivers who fail to comply with traffic rules and regulations.

During the control, a total of 20 measures were imposed for committed traffic violations. Of these, 11 drivers were sanctioned and excluded from traffic for driving under the influence of alcohol. Two persons were deprived of liberty for committing a criminal offense under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code – “Reckless driving of a motor vehicle,” and in accordance with Article 300 of the Criminal Code, two motor vehicles were confiscated. Additionally, nine drivers were sanctioned for other traffic violations.

Appropriate charges have been prepared against all offenders.

Also, during the period 20/21 February 2026, police officers across the entire territory of the country deprived 11 persons of liberty, nine of whom for driving without a driving license, and two for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Drivers from Tetovo, Kavadarci, Skopje, Dojran, Gevgelija and Struga were found operating vehicles without possessing a driving license, while the driver from Gevgelija was also operating a vehicle after the registration had expired. Two drivers from Kochani were driving under the influence of alcohol, with measured alcohol levels of 1.83 and 2.91 per mille.

The persons were detained at a police station and, after full documentation of the cases, appropriate charges will be filed against them.

Traffic controls will continue in the coming period.

We appeal to all road users to consistently respect traffic rules and regulations. Driving under the influence of alcohol and without a driving license represents a serious threat to the safety of all citizens. Only through responsible behavior can we jointly contribute to safer roads.
