15 Sanctions and Two Criminal Offenses in Action Control by the Mobile Unit in Skopje and Kumanovo; 18 Persons Detained Nationwide

During the night of 21/22 February 2026, between 22:00 and 04:00, the Mobile Traffic Safety Unit within the Traffic Affairs Sector carried out an action control in the areas covered by SVR Skopje and SVR Kumanovo, aimed at sanctioning drivers who fail to comply with traffic rules and regulations.

During the control, a total of 15 measures were imposed for committed traffic violations. Of these, eight drivers were sanctioned and excluded from traffic for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. One person was deprived of liberty for committing criminal offenses under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code – “reckless driving of a motor vehicle” – and under Article 383 – “assault on an official while performing security duties.”

Additionally, seven drivers were sanctioned for other traffic violations.
Appropriate reports have been prepared for all offenders.

Furthermore, during the same period (21/22 February 2026), police officers across the entire territory of the country deprived 18 persons of liberty. Of these, seven were detained for driving without a driver’s license, seven for driving under the influence of alcohol, two for driving with expired vehicle registration and without a driver’s license, one person who did not possess a driver’s license and was also under the influence of alcohol, and one person for exceeding the permitted speed limit.

Drivers from Skopje, Veles, Kavadarci, and one minor from Tetovo were caught driving without a driver’s license. The minor, driving at high speed, crashed into an EVN electrical cabinet and attempted to run over police officers.

Drivers from Sveti Nikole, Kochani, Prilep, Kumanovo, Bogdanci, Ohrid, and Skopje were found driving under the influence of alcohol, while a driver from the Republic of Serbia was recorded driving at 203 km/h in an area where the permitted speed limit is 120 km/h. Drivers from Gostivar and Skopje were operating vehicles without a driver’s license and with expired vehicle registration, while a driver from Makedonski Brod who was driving without a license was also under the influence of alcohol.

The individuals were taken to police stations and, upon full documentation of the cases, appropriate charges will be filed against them.

Traffic controls will continue in the upcoming period.

We appeal to all road users to strictly respect traffic rules and regulations. Driving under the influence of alcohol and without a driver’s license represents a serious threat to the safety of all citizens. Only through responsible behavior can we jointly contribute to safer roads.
