The Negotino Police Department filed a criminal complaint with the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Kavadarci against K.N. (29) from Veles and G.M. (54), residing in Skopje, on suspicion of committing 11 criminal offenses—ten counts of “attempted fraud” and one count of “fraud” under Article 247 of the Criminal Code.
In the past period, a person from abroad contacted elderly individuals by phone, falsely presenting themselves and misleading them into believing that their close family members had been injured in accidents and required urgent surgery, attempting to defraud them of large sums of money. The reported individuals, K.N. and G.M., were tasked with collecting the money, after which G.M. would hand it over to a person in Sofia, Republic of Bulgaria.
In this way, they successfully defrauded an 81-year-old woman from Negotino of 314,600 denars.
On 19.02.2026, after undertaking investigative measures, police officers from the Negotino Police Department deprived K.N. of his liberty, and during an official interview he fully confessed to the events. Two days later, on 21.02.2026, G.M. was also deprived of his liberty at the Deve Bair border crossing, where €4,400 were found and seized from him, while €4,350 were found and seized from his wife, who was with him in the vehicle.
