2,450 Traffic Violations in the Past Four Days, 15 Persons Deprived of Liberty for Reckless Driving under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code

In the period from November 24 to November 27, 2025, as a result of regular traffic controls carried out by police officers from all Sectors for Internal Affairs on roads across the country, out of a total of 2,450 issued payment orders, 454 violations were related to drivers who failed to comply with the prescribed speed limits.

 

A total of 15 persons were deprived of liberty for reckless driving under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code, of whom 13 were detained for driving under the influence of alcohol, and two for driving at a speed exceeding the permitted limit outside a populated area.

 

Furthermore, according to statistical data from police activities, 811 violations were recorded for improper parking, 265 measures were imposed on drivers who operated vehicles without a driver’s license, nine sanctions for running a red light, 33 measures for offenses committed by pedestrians, as well as 15 sanctions for driving under the influence of alcohol.

 

Additionally, 132 road users were sanctioned for not wearing a seat belt, and 89 measures were imposed on drivers for using a mobile phone while driving. In accordance with the Law on Vehicles, 65 vehicles were removed from traffic due to being unregistered, and 44 due to technical defects. Appropriate measures were also imposed on 17 drivers of motor vehicles for tinted windows or improperly installed window films.

 

Traffic controls will continue in the upcoming period. We appeal to all traffic participants to respect traffic rules and regulations and to jointly contribute to safer roads.
