During the recent weekend period (March 14/15, 2026), as a result of regular traffic controls conducted by police officers from all sectors of internal affairs on the roads across the country, out of a total of 1,198 issued payment orders, 465 violations pertained to drivers who did not adhere to the prescribed speed limits.
Forty-two individuals were arrested for reckless driving, including eight for driving under the influence of alcohol, 20 for driving without a license, and one due to a previously imposed ban on operating a vehicle.
In the same period, 13 vehicles were confiscated under Article 300-b of the Criminal Code.
Furthermore, according to the statistical overview of police activities, during the past weekend, 173 violations for improper parking were recorded, as well as 40 sanctions for driving under the influence of alcohol.
On the other hand, in accordance with the provisions of the Road Traffic Safety Act, 59 motorcycle riders were sanctioned for not wearing helmets, and 31 pedestrians were also penalized. Additionally, 112 traffic participants were sanctioned for not using seat belts. According to the Vehicle Act, 20 vehicles were removed from traffic for being unregistered, and four due to technical defects.
Traffic controls will continue in the coming days. We urge all traffic participants to respect traffic rules and regulations and to collectively contribute to safer roads.
