Today (05.05.2026), police officers from the Prevention Unit of the Veles Sector for Internal Affairs carried out a preventive activity at the city market in Veles under the motto “Beware of phone scams,” aimed at informing and educating citizens on how to recognize scams and avoid becoming victims. Through direct contact, citizens were advised not to open suspicious messages related to alleged traffic violations recorded by the “Safe City” system, which contain instructions prompting victims to disclose personal data and bank account details.
A similar preventive activity was conducted today by police officers from the Negotino Police Department in the municipalities of Negotino and Demir Kapija. Additionally, police officers from the Traffic Police Unit within the Veles SIA implemented a preventive campaign titled “Both you and I are pedestrians,” focusing on pedestrians and emphasizing that, as active participants in traffic, they are also obliged to respect traffic rules and regulations. Meanwhile, police officers from the Negotino Traffic Police Unit carried out a preventive activity under the theme “Do not use a mobile phone,” warning drivers about the dangers of using mobile phones while driving. As part of these activities, printed educational materials were distributed.
Organized by the Prevention Unit of the Ohrid Sector for Internal Affairs, the Ohrid Red Cross, the Ohrid Territorial Firefighting Unit, the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, and the Crisis Management Center, yesterday (04.05.2026) a demonstration exercise for evacuation and rescue was conducted at the “St. Kliment Ohridski” Primary School in Ohrid, based on a simulated accident scenario. The aim of the exercise was to raise the level of preparedness and coordination among the competent institutions for timely and efficient response in case of accidents, as well as to update and practice the implementation of operational protection and rescue plans and evacuation procedures in educational institutions.
