The Director of the Bureau of Public Safety, Aleksandar Janev, among European police leaders at the European Police Chiefs Convention – EPCC 2026

A delegation from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, led by Director Aleksandar Janev, participated in the European Police Chiefs Convention (EPCC 2026), held at the Europol headquarters in The Hague, Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The convention, organized by Europol and the current presidency of the Council of the European Union – Ireland, brought together leaders of police services from EU member states, partner countries, and international organizations to exchange experiences and enhance the collective response to modern security challenges.

During the convention, Director Janev held bilateral meetings with Europol leadership, as well as with representatives of partner countries and institutions. The discussions focused on opportunities to deepen operational police cooperation, improve information and experience sharing, and strengthen joint efforts in combating organized and transnational crime, cybercrime, and illegal drug trafficking.

The meetings also explored possibilities for further strengthening police capacities through training, joint projects, and the application of modern technologies and innovative methods in police work. In this context, the priorities of the Macedonian police were presented, aimed at more effectively countering organized criminal groups, enhancing organizational and operational capacities, and accelerating the processes of modernization and digitalization.

Within the framework of EPCC 2026, panel discussions were held focusing on current security challenges, including the application and misuse of artificial intelligence in law enforcement, the prevention of radicalization, as well as disinformation and synthetic media and their impact on public order.

The participation of the Macedonian delegation in this significant international police convention represents a confirmation of the active role of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in European security cooperation and the commitment to continuously enhance international police collaboration, information exchange, and joint efforts to tackle contemporary security threats.
