Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski today held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of France, H.E. Christophe Le Rigoler, accompanied by Police Attaché Michael Jeannot.
The meeting highlighted the long-standing cooperation between the two countries in the field of internal affairs, which has continued for more than two decades, as well as their shared commitment to further strengthening it through concrete activities, training and the exchange of experience.
Ambassador Le Rigoler informed Minister Toshkovski about the new training programme being launched at Skopje International Airport, conducted by French experts from the French Gendarmerie’s Air Transport Gendarmerie. The training focuses on exchanging expertise and practical knowledge in the area of airport security and safety, as well as strengthening the professional capacities of police officers and security personnel.
“Cooperation with the Republic of France has a long-standing continuity, and it is particularly important for us that this cooperation is translated into concrete activities and training programmes. The exchange of knowledge and experience with French experts directly contributes to strengthening the professional and operational capacities of the Macedonian police,” Minister Toshkovski said.
Two additional training programmes were announced for the end of the year – one on preventing money laundering and another on intelligence activities and work in correctional facilities.
The interlocutors also discussed opportunities to expand cooperation with the Ministry of Interior Training Centre through the development and delivery of training programmes tailored to the needs of future police officers.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the cooperation to date and their readiness to further deepen it in areas of mutual interest.
