BJB Director Aleksandar Janev on a Working Visit to Shtip Department of Internal Affairs

Today (4 November 2026), the Director of the Bureau of Public Security (BPS), Aleksandar Janev, accompanied by members of his team, paid a working visit to the Shtip Department of Internal Affairs (SVR Shtip), where he held discussions with the management on operational performance, results achieved, and further strengthening security capacities in the region.

The discussions focused on improving police efficiency, strengthening preventive activities, and ensuring the timely detection and combating of all forms of crime. It was highlighted that over the past nine months, burglaries have decreased by more than 40% compared to the same period last year, while the crime detection rate in the areas of organised and other types of crime has recorded a significant increase.

Special emphasis was placed on professionalism, accountability and compliance with official procedures by police officers. It was stressed that there would be zero tolerance for unprofessional and irresponsible conduct. Discussions also addressed improving criminal intelligence and operational-analytical activities, enhancing coordination and increasing police presence in the field, as well as the operational capacity of the new intervention unit.

As part of the visit, Director Janev also met with the 56 newly recruited police officers who, after completing their one-year training at the Police Academy, have been assigned to the Shtip Department of Internal Affairs. He told them that a high level of professionalism, integrity, responsibility and dedication was expected of them in carrying out their police duties.

The Ministry of Interior continues to strengthen its operational and human resource capacities in order to ensure more efficient policing, stronger prevention and greater security for citizens across all regions.
