The Cyber Crime and Digital Forensics Sector submitted a criminal complaint to the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Skopje against J.K. (46) from Skopje for committing the criminal offenses of "violation of copyright and related rights" and "piracy of audiovisual works," under Article 157 and Article 157-b of the Criminal Code.
Specifically, the accused J.K., in 2024, as the administrator of a Facebook page, unlawfully and without authorization broadcasted exclusive copyright material from a TV series that had been granted solely for the programming service of a television company, based on a previously signed contract.
According to the complaint from the television company submitted to the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Skopje, the accused committed the criminal offenses by posting episodes of the series on his Facebook profile, as the administrator of the Facebook page, among other series, films, and documentaries, for which he did not hold copyright.
Acting on an order from the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Skopje, the Cyber Crime and Digital Forensics Sector of the Ministry of Interior conducted an investigation during which the accused was summoned for an informational interview, and an electronic device owned by him was temporarily seized. Following a forensic analysis of the device, the allegations from the complaint and the statement given by the accused during the informational interview were confirmed.
