The Department for the Suppression of Organized and Serious Crime at the Bureau for Public Safety, in coordination with the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office for the Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption, took part in an internationally coordinated operation aimed at dismantling a transnational criminal network involved in organized investment fraud via the internet.
The operation was conducted within the framework of international police and judicial cooperation, with support and coordination from Europol and Eurojust, and involved authorities from Germany, Cyprus, Finland, Albania, Israel, Kosovo, and North Macedonia.
As a result of the coordinated activities, seven suspects were arrested in various countries, searches were conducted at 17 locations, and more than 100 servers, along with other electronic evidence and tools related to the criminal activities, were seized.
According to current findings, the estimated financial damage exceeds four million euros, and potential victims have been identified in at least 50 countries.
Participation in this international operation represents yet another confirmation of the active contribution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the joint efforts to detect and combat organized crime, as well as to enhance international police cooperation.
