On 28 June 2026, between 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., the Mobile Road Traffic Safety Unit within the Traffic Affairs Sector and the Traffic and Escort Department carried out a traffic enforcement operation in the city of Bitola, aimed at sanctioning drivers of mopeds, motorcycles, tricycles, quadricycles, and electric scooters who failed to comply with traffic rules and regulations.
During the operation, a total of 58 measures were imposed for traffic violations and criminal offences. Of these, six measures were issued against electric scooter riders, 25 against motorcycle riders for riding without a protective helmet, one for an expired insurance policy, three for driving without the appropriate licence category, and 18 for other traffic offences.
During the operation, one motor vehicle was seized for causing excessive noise, pursuant to Article 344 of the Road Traffic Safety Act.
Four criminal offences were also detected, and four individuals were deprived of their liberty for committing the criminal offence under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code for operating a motorcycle without holding a valid driving licence. Appropriate legal charges were filed against all offenders.
Traffic enforcement operations will continue in the coming period. We appeal to all road users to consistently comply with traffic rules and regulations. Only through responsible behaviour can we jointly contribute to safer roads.
