During yesterday's operation (05.08.2026), conducted between 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. across the Republic of North Macedonia, a targeted traffic enforcement action was carried out to sanction violations committed by motorcycle riders. A total of 222 riders were sanctioned.
Of these, 186 riders were found not wearing a protective helmet while riding. Fourteen riders were deprived of their liberty for committing the criminal offence under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code (reckless driving). All of them were riding without a valid driver's licence, and 14 motorcycles were seized.
During the operation, police officers also sanctioned 197 other traffic violations.
Traffic enforcement activities will continue in the coming days. We appeal to all road users to comply with traffic laws and regulations and to contribute together to safer roads.
