Today (November 17, 2025), the Skopje Police Department conducted a preventive activity under the motto "Beware of Phone Scams." The preventive initiative was aimed at informing and educating the elderly population, who are the most common victims of such scams. Through direct conversations and the distribution of educational materials, citizens were informed that the most frequent type of scam involves false traffic accidents, where scammers pose as police officers, lawyers, prosecutors, or doctors, demanding a certain sum of money from the victim over the phone.
The goal of this activity is to raise awareness among the population and to provide ways to protect against this type of crime, as well as to urge anyone who receives such a call to immediately hang up and contact the numbers 112 or 192.
Additionally, today, students from the fourth and fifth grades of the Primary School "Joakim Krchovski" in Volkovo visited the Police Station in Gjorce Petrov as part of the school's annual curriculum. The purpose of the visit was to familiarize them with the profession of a police officer, as well as to understand how the police station operates and its responsibilities.
